Teacher Placements (Excellence in Education through Business Links)

Designed to enhance and develop enterprising teaching and learning by improving teachers' understanding of the world or work through employer placement activity.

Organisations can link with local schools to improve awareness of industry needs and provide an opportunity to influence the curriculum.

Enhanced Resource Pilot Project

A pilot project in NEET hotspot area secondary schools including Glasgow, West Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, Ayrshire and Clackmannanshire to supplement existing CS supporting activity.

Science and Technology Matters (STEM) for Scotland

A three year project supported by Scottish Enterprise Electronics team and ESF Objective 3 aimed at increasing the number of young people studying science past S2 and engaging with the general public to increase awareness of STEM issues and of career opportunities in related industries.

Business and industry specialist will be encouraged to work closely with schools to provide unique advice and support to teachers and pupils. This could be in the form of judging at science challenge days, mentoring a science club on a regular basis or providing teacher placements. There will be the opportunity for business support to be a few hours at a time or a more long term approach, whichever suits.

Setpoint

SETPOINTs work together with their local communities and partnership organisations to deliver and promote a wide range of STEM-related activities, challenges and clubs.

Businesses have the opportunity to enrol their employees as science and engineering ambassadors. After a brief induction they will then be sent details of schools requiring support with projects or activities. This can build links with the local community and staff development in science communication.
