Summer Rock School

What is it?

Rock Schools are held in various venues across the Highlands & Islands.

Over the two or three days of each Rock School there is a wide range of workshops led by local musicians in topics such as:

  • Song writing
  • Stagecraft & Performance
  • Music technology
  • Band promotion
  • Recording techniques.

Each Rock School climaxes in a showcase event where friends, family, supporters and locals can attend to hear the bands playing live.

  • Raising self esteem
  • Communication
  • Teamwork
  • Working to deadlines
  • Motivation through music

Who is it aimed at?

Young people aged from 14 to 19, in school and beyond. Must be interested in music but don't need a great level of skill.

  • Raised awareness of transferring music skills into other areas of their lives

Provides an opportunity for young people to realise their full potential and recognise that skills they develop through music can be used throughout their own unique career path – working together, communicating and working to deadlines are some examples. Developing and being aware of transferable skills is critical in being successful in both life and work.
