School College Collaboration (SCC)
The School College Collaboration (SCC) project aims to support the careers guidance needs of all pupils aged S2-S5 who are involved in school/college activities while still on the school roll. The project has a particular focus on those at risk of not entering employment, training or post school educational opportunities. This includes:
- Pupils thinking about going onto Skills for Work (or other vocational education) courses from S3 upwards
- Pupils participating in Skills for Work (or other vocational education) courses
- Pupils thinking of going to college once they leave school
- Pupils thinking of taking up other learning opportunities once they leave school (such as Modern Apprenticeships, jobs with training)
The aim is to encourage pupils to stay in learning and understand the value of that learning to their career planning journey.
Funded by the Scottish Government since 1st Aug 2006, the project covers the whole of Scotland. The type of activities covered by the project include:

- S2 Skills for Work (SfW) recruitment workshops
- Support for unsuccessful Skills for Work candidates
- S4+ college applications workshops
- Support for winter leaver exceptional entrants (pre, during & post entry)
For partners/Careers Scotland (Skills Development Scotland) staff:
- Involvement in Skills for Work recruitment & selection
- Involvement in planning of provision for vocational courses
- Involvement in process of S5 exceptional entrants going to college
- Involvement in partnership events
- Continuing Professional Development Careerbox for Colleges training session
- Continuing Professional Development Front Line Guidance training
- Skills for Work/vocational awareness raising session
Research
The project has commissioned research into the experiences of winter leavers who attend college in their final term of compulsory schooling. It examines the process, the barriers and the outcomes of opting to attend college for the winter term of S5.

Learning Partnerships across Ayrshire
