Day 4
Monday
Today was Day 1 at Space Center, Houston. We started by meeting Jamie and Dave who are to take us through the week’s programme.
After being given our team objectives and budget for the week, we took a tram ride to Mars….well a simulated Mars landscape used to test robotics destined for use on Mars. From there we walked to the Moon – what an achievement!
The rest of the day was taken up by designing and building our own Mars rovers – lots of planning, talking, listening and probably most importantly - compromising!
Later that evening we attended ‘Geek Night’ at a local restaurant where we met many interesting life and planetary scientists who were more than willing to answer all our questions over a traditional Texan-style dinner.
The day wasn’t over yet as the Silver and Blue Teams still had to prepare for presentations the following morning.
