Teacher Placements (EEBL)
What is EEBL?
EEBL is Scotland’s teacher placement programme and a key element of 'Determined to Succeed', the Scottish Government’s long-term strategy for enterprise in education that aims to better prepare young people for the world of work.
By giving teachers opportunities to spend time in the world of work outside of school, teachers get interesting, stimulating and relevant hands-on experiences of a wide range of careers and how they relate to what young people are learning at school.
An EEBL placement can also help you and your school in relating a placement experience to 'A Curriculum for Excellence'.

National EEBL placements for 2008/2009
From time to time we offer themed placements of between 2 and 5 days where teachers across Scotland may apply. These 'National' placements are offered in addition to the many local ones available from your local EEBL co-ordinators and are advertised on this page as well as circulated to schools. During the 2007/2008 academic year we offered EEBL programmes for teachers with the following organisations:
- Chartered Institute for Housing (CIH)
- John Murray Archive (JMA)
- Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE)
- Royal Highland Education Trust (RHET)
- Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO)
In 2008/09 we shall be continuing this trend and are currently offering placements with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh for up to 12 secondary teachers from across the curriculum which will take place in November 2008. Closing date is 19 September 2008 and you can download a programme (Word format - 692kb) and application form (Word format - 155kb) – return and enquiry details are on the forms.
