Resignation

When is the right time to hand in your resignation?

  • Wait until you have confirmation in writing from your new employer.
  • Be sure you know what notice period you are contracted to give your existing employer and hand in your resignation letter in time to cover this.
  • Be positive about the time you spent with your employer – you might want a reference or you might want to go back there again or your old boss may move to your new employer and again be your boss!
  • Keep a copy of the letter.
  • Explore the i-resign website for ideas on how to resign.

I wish both you and Smith and Sons every good fortune and I would like to thank you for having me as part of your team.

Yours sincerely
