Wind Resource Analyst/Wind Analyst

Introduction

A Wind Resource Analyst/Wind Analyst is usually an experienced meteorologist, or engineer with meteorological or fluid mechanics background. They analyse meteorological data, conduct modelling studies, estimate wind project output, and perform other tasks in support of consulting services.

Work Activities

The major duties performed in this job include:

  • Perform analysis of wind resource at sites of interest.
  • Supports the collection of data, siting, deployment and operation of remote sensor equipment.
  • Provide technical support to financial analyst, business development, construction, engineering and supply management organisation.
  • Internal electricity production estimates and management of subcontracted analyses
  • Create and manage computer models of wind farms.
  • Analyse and report on recent wind climate at sites of interest.

Personal Qualities and Skills

  • Good IT skills
  • Skill in using computer aided design and/or engineering tools
  • Understanding of engineering principles
  • Good analytical skills
  • Computational/quantitative skills

Pay and Opportunities

Starting salaries for wind analysts are around £23,000 - £25,000. Senior Wind Analysts can earn up to £40,000.
