AbilityNet
A charity that brings the benefits of computer technology to adults and children with disabilities. It provides free information and advice on any aspect of the use of a computer by someone with a disability, individual assessment of technology needs, adapted computer equipment with full training and technical support, a programme of awareness education, and consultancy for employers on system and workstation adaptations.

Action for Blind People
A national charity that provides practical support to blind and partially sighted people through work, housing, leisure and support.

Afasic Scotland
Charity representing children and young adults with communication impairments, working for their inclusion in society and supporting their parents and carers.

The Association of Disabled Professionals

Association of National Specialist Colleges (NATSPEC)
A portal site to colleges, offering education, training and support to match the inclusive learning needs of young people with learning disabilities.

British Association for Supported Employment(base)
This site gives a wide range of information and services to its members and others.

The British Council of Disabled People
The UK's national organisation of the worldwide Disabled People's Movement.

Capability Scotland
Scotland's largest disability organisation providing a broad range of services to adults and children with disabilities. The advice service offered can provide general advice and information on disability issues and specialist advice on cerebral palsy.

Check The Map
A not-for-profit site that gives free promotion to all Learning Disability (LD) services across the UK and Ireland.

Community Fund
Distributes money raised by the Lottery to support charities and voluntary groups.

Contact a Family
Provides help and advice to families caring for children with any disability or special need. Principal source of information about rare disorders and is also able to assist affected adults as well as children. CaF Directory online contains details of specific medical conditions and rare disorders.

Interactive site for disabled young people, employers, carers and all service providers and voluntary organisations.

Direct Payments Scotland
Scottish Government website providing information about Direct Payments, which allow people to purchase services to meet their community care needs instead of the local authority arranging services for them.

Disability Alliance
Publishers of the Disability Rights Handbook and are regarded as the leading authority on social security benefits for disabled people. The website gives information on benefits and legislation as it affects disabled people.

Disability Conciliation Service
Through conciliation the Disability Conciliation Service offers disabled people an alternative to court or tribunal action.

I Am Dyslexic
Developed by a teenager with dyslexia for people who have dyslexia, but mostly for dyslexic children. Offers tips on spelling and typing etc. and a question-and-answer format gives tips on which colour backgrounds and font styles make text easier to read.

Developing real employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Job Ability
Site for disabled people seeking employment. Companies advertising jobs on the site offer any disabled person, who fulfils the person specification attached to the post, a guaranteed interview. The site gives disabled people access to a wide variety of jobs as well as career advice. It also contains advice on adapting equipment and making office space available.

National Schizophrenia Fellowship

NSE provides information and support to people with epilepsy. They also provide care for people with epilepsy through medical and residential services.

Royal National Institute for the Blind
RNIB Scotland provides a wide range of services to blind and partially sighted people from its centres in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling. RNIB Scotland Headquarters can provide details of all of these services.

Royal National Institute for the Deaf
RNID Scotland offers a wide range of services to deaf and hard of hearing people.

SASLI
An association of registered qualified (Full Members) and trainee (Associate Members) Sign Language Interpreters in Scotland. One of the main functions of SASLI is to hold the Register of Sign Language Interpreters.
