Educational maintenance allowance
EMAs provide financial support for 16 – 19 year olds from low income families studying full time courses at school or college.
How does it work?
EMA is a weekly allowance paid during term time. Bonuses are paid for attendance, achievement, progression and behaviour. These are all paid directly into the young person’s bank account.
The weekly allowance normally depends on the financial circumstances of your family. If your family income is less than £31,528 per year you qualify for an EMA.
