tp:g is back - bigger and better than ever!

The Path is Green (tp:g) microsite was developed in 2008 by Careers Scotland as part of a campaign backed by the Scottish Government to raise awareness and interest in green jobs and renewable energy. This campaign ran throughout the year and featured online schools quizzes and competitions together with a lot of information about potential job opportunities.

Scotland's renewables jobs boost

Scotland could create 60,000 green jobs by 2020 in the low-carbon and renewable energy industries according to John Swinney, Cabinet Secretary for Sustainable Growth in the Scottish Government, when he launched a discussion paper on the transition to a low carbon economy recently.

The final of ‘The Path is Green’ competitions were held at the Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow on Wednesday 12th November 2008 and hosted by Heather (the weather) Reid. A winner and runner-up were selected from seven Project Green finalists and twenty winners were drawn from the successful entrants of the Green Jobs Quiz.

The Path is Green (tp:g) initiative aims to highlight how the expected growth of the renewables sector in Scotland, as highlighted by the Scottish Government, has brought with it a wealth of job opportunities, many of them in areas which were virtually non-existent a decade ago.
