Online safety
We want to give our children as rich a variety of learning opportunities as possible.
One of the ways of doing this is to give children access to the thousands of educational and information websites that are available on the Internet.
The Internet provides a great wealth of information and the ability to use the Internet effectively and safely is a skill that will be of value throughout a child's life.
Nevertheless, this same ability to access information on almost any subject, and to communicate throughout the world, carries with it the risk that young people will be exposed to material, situations or communications that may be undesirable.
To find out more about internet safety, visit the following useful websites.
- Be Safe Online
- Kidsmart
- ParentsCentre - Internet Safety presentation
- Information Commissioner's Office - a site aimed at helping young people protect personal information.
Links made to other sites are made at your own risk and Skills Development Scotland accepts no liability for any linked sites. Further information is available in our Disclaimer.
