Careers Scotland Unveils New Improved Website

A career related learning resource for everyone in Scotland

Careers Scotland has relaunched its website to give the people of Scotland access to the latest online resources to help them develop and implement their career plans.

The organisation has made a number of changes to its existing website to give its customers an improved experience when they log on to www.careers-scotland.org.uk. The site is packed full of professional careers advice, information and support and takes users through the steps that they need to make career decisions and to put these into practice.

Based on feedback from its website users, Careers Scotland has introduced more interactive features, improved access, a streamlined registration process and access to more learning and employment opportunities.

The website has information on how to choose and research a career, prepare for interviews and the workplace, and review career development. It links to Jobcentre Plus vacancies, learndirect scotland learning opportunities and other recruitment and training resources to create a ‘one stop career planning shop’ for people logging on. There are a number of practical tools including a CV Builder and CareersMatch, a programme that matches occupations to users’ interests, likes and dislikes.

With more than 60,000 visits per month and over 40,000 registered users, online career planning with Careers Scotland is proving to be a real success, supporting people of all ages when and where it suits them. The site has been redeveloped to ensure that it is easy to read, simple to navigate and comfortable to view and the design has taken account of usability and accessibility guidelines for the Internet.

Christina Allon, director of Careers Scotland (SE), said:

“As a national organisation operating across the country, we have a clear and simple purpose – to help the people of Scotland secure the jobs of tomorrow."
“We aim to reach into every community to provide resources that everyone can access to help them plan their career. We know that some people may not have time to visit a Careers Scotland centre and that is why our website is so valuable. It can be accessed anywhere, at any time and is quick and simple to use. I would encourage anyone considering a change in their present circumstances to log on to www.careers-scotland.org.uk to help them take the next step.”

The Careers Scotland website also provides information and support for employers, community organisations and partners in the learning and teaching communities.
