Benchmark Statements
Careers Scotland have produced Benchmark Statements (Word format - 113kb) for a Professional Qualification in Career Planning in Scotland. These have been endorsed by QAA, ICG and Scottish Executive.
The statements have drawn from existing standards and competency frameworks, both within the UK and internationally, and have been produced after extensive consultation with key stakeholders who have an interest in Career Planning in Scotland.
Careers Scotland believe they now have a robust framework for developing future qualifications in Scotland in the fields of career planning, employability support and workforce development.
The identified features of qualifications, and competencies expected of students completing professional courses, are designed to prepare practitioners to effectively meet the needs of clients in increasingly complex labour and learning markets. The Benchmark Statements take account of diverse client groups, the wide range of activities that practitioners can be involved in and the differing contexts in which they may be delivering career planning services.
