New Joint LSA/DRC Disability Rights Project

The Disability Rights Commission has funded LSA, Scotland’s largest Law Centre, to provide a new service for people with disabilities.

The service is for people who are discriminated against in goods, services, and education, because they are disabled.

This includes people who from 4 December 2006 will have protection from discrimination in public transport and housing.

People with disabilities have a right not only to be treated at least as well as everyone else, but also to insist that service providers make reasonable adjustments to make their services available to them.

If you or someone you know can’t access shops, offices, public transport, housing, education, or are refused any service or refused reasonable adjustments, contact Joe Bryce 0141-354-1275 or email joebryce@lsa.org.uk

The new Project can enforce your rights by asking the service provider to complete a questionnaire, by referring the dispute to conciliation, and if that doesn’t work by going to Court.

The Project is for all people with disabilities, whether mental, physical or both.

Please note that this service is NOT for people discriminated against in employment.

For further information look at the LSA website and the Disability Rights Commission website.
