Glow

Glow is a national schools intranet, digitally linking Scotland's 800,000 educators and pupils. Glow is funded by the Scottish Government and managed by Learning and Teaching Scotland (LTS).

Participation in Further and Higher Education

A new report from the Scottish Further and Higher Education Funding Council (SFC) provides the most detailed picture of participation in Further and Higher Education produced to date.

The report, Scottish Participation in Further and Higher Education, looks at how attendance at college or university varies across Scotland and how well different parts of the population are represented. It covers five academic years illustrating trends in participation between 2001-02 and 2005-06.

Follow up Survey of School Leavers from Scottish Schools 2006/07 Leavers

"This Statistics Publication Notice presents national information on the follow-up destination status in March/April 2008 of those young people who left school in school year 2006/07."

"The publication also provides information on the change in status of these young people since information was published on them in the Destinations of Leavers from Scottish Schools: 2006/07 publication on 11 December 2007. The information in this publication is the basis for the Scottish Government's national indicator on positive and sustained destinations from Scottish publicly funded schools."

Information on schools leavers from 2006/07 shows that:

  • 87.0 per cent were in positive destinations in the March/April of 2008
  • 47.9 per cent were in higher or further education in March/April.
  • 38.8 per cent were in employment or training in March/April.
  • The proportion who were not in employment, education, training or voluntary work in March/April 2008 was 13.0 per cent.
  • The proportion who were in a positive destination in both September 2007 and March/April 2008 was 80.3 per cent with a further 12.5 per cent in a positive destination in one of the two periods.
  • Only 6.8 per cent were not in a positive destination in both September 2007 and March/April 2008.

The Scottish Screen Archive is Scotland's national moving images collection.It preserves over 100 years of Scottish history on film and video.

It includes cinema adverts, promotional films for towns, sporting and social events.There are around 1,000 clips on the website.
