Extract from latest Glow Newsletter…
"The lights are switched on and the world’s first national education intranet is now being rolled out in Scotland. Renfrewshire, East Dunbartonshire, South Lanarkshire and Dundee are the four early adopters to start using Glow, with more to follow in the coming months. Lairdsland Primary in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, is the first school in Scotland to be using Glow in the classroom."
Introduction to Investment Operations
Sponsored places are now available on SIO's Introduction to Investment Operations course which will be running in March. The course will start on March 6 in Glasgow. This is an opportunity for those seeking to enter Scotland's investment sector.
Participants will learn about the world of investments, set them on a path to achieving a recognised qualification and allow them to network with employers who are currently looking for staff. Some 2/3rds of delegates who responded to recent SIO surveys following their course now work in the industry.
They are accepting applications at Scottish Investment Operations website

Little known "facts" courtesy of the Queen’s University Belfast…no we didn’t check them…
The "save" icon on Microsoft Word shows a floppy disk, with the shutter on backwards.
The combination "ough" can be pronounced in nine different ways. The following sentence contains them all: "A rough-coated, dough-faced, thoughtful ploughman strode through the streets of Scarborough; after falling into a slough, he coughed and hiccoughed."
The phrase "sleep tight" derives from the fact that early mattresses were filled with straw and held up with rope stretched across the bedframe. A tight sleep was a comfortable sleep.
Studies show that if a cat falls off the seventh floor of a building it has about thirty percent less chance of surviving than a cat that falls off the twentieth floor. It supposedly takes about eight floors for the cat to realize what is occurring, relax and correct itself.
