Diverse Routes into Higher Education in Scotland
The Diverse Routes website will be of interest to anyone thinking about studying at college or university, and is:
- a new migrant
- an EU national
- a refugee
- an asylum seeker
- or someone who has been settled in Scotland for some time.
It provides an overview of the diverse routes into higher education with key topics such as:
- English for speakers of other languages
- recognition of prior learning
- financial support
- further information for asylum seekers and refugees
- other useful websites
- a general summary translated into 14 community languages.
Achievers UK
AchieversUK aims to raise the ambition and confidence of young people in state schools by highlighting the success of former pupils. The initiative draws attention to the achievements not only of high flyers, but also of individuals who may not be household names but who carry out a vital role in society.Age Discrimination

Age Concern Scotland is currently working in partnership to publicise the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006 implemented on 1 October 2006. The Regulations provide protection against age discrimination in employment, training and adult education for people of all ages.
ILA Scotland Income Threshold Raised
The Scottish Executive has announced that the income threshold for the ILA Scotland £200 scheme will be raised from £15,000 to £18,000 from summer 2007.
Changes to the eligibility criteria for the Individual Learning Account (ILA) Scotland scheme are expected to extend its reach to 200,000 more people on low incomes.
The Individual Learning Account (ILA) provides up to £200 towards the cost of approved courses.
