UCAS
This is an extract from the UCAS website.
“Latest UCAS figures show a 3.2% (-14,082) decrease in the number of students applying by the 24 March to UK higher education courses starting in autumn 2006. 424,560 applicants had applied in comparison with 438,624 at the same point last year.
Scottish domiciled applicants applying to Scottish institutions are down by 1.3% (-387) whereas cross border applications from England to Scotland are up by 1.8% (532).
UCAS has recently launched a new parent section on its website. Parents are encouraged to log-on and register for a free parent guide that contains a variety of information including details on student finance. Its main purpose is to inform parents and guardians on issues relating to higher education to help them support their children while they are researching their options.
Nearly all students are now using the online application system with 98.5% submitting applications using electronic means via the UCAS website in comparison with 75% at the same point last year”.
