Education and training
What is it?
Training opportunities will usually be directly related to the type of work you are doing or wish to do. You may train part time or on the job.
A number of training initiatives exist for those both in work and out of work.
College and University courses are available to people of all ages. Courses are offered at several different levels and can be studied on a full or part time basis. Course requirements vary from no formal qualifications to a set number of qualifications. Funding may be available to help towards the cost of your course.
Suitable for you?
A qualification is a step up to getting a good job and in pursuing a career.
Surveys also show that over their lifetime, graduates tend to be better paid, to have greater job security and to be in jobs with higher prestige, authority and independence.
But a qualification, especially a degree may not always be the best way forward for you. For instance, a degree course requires not just ability but commitment and interest. Without these it can be a waste of time and money.
